Sino-Spainsh Ties Stressed

Visiting Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao, upon his arrival in Madrid on Tuesday, said that he is fully confident over the future of the Sino-Spanish relations, which have made progress in recent years.

Starting his two-day official visit to Spain, the fourth leg of his five-nation tour, Hu said in a written statement at the airport that he hopes that bilateral ties between his country and Spain will be strengthened through dialogue and contacts during his visit.

Spain, which has contributed to the progress of humanity, is playing an increasingly important role in the world, particularly in Europe, Hu noted.

He said he is satisfied with the current development of the Sino-Spanish relations and full of confidence about the future as exchanges and cooperation in all fields have progressed constantly, and the mutual understanding and friendship are deepening.

Prior to his visit to Spain, Hu visited Russia, Britain and France. The last leg of his visit is Germany.
