Top Legislator Meets Bangladeshi PM
China always regards Bangladesh as a reliable and trustworthy friend and places importance on its relations with the latter, Chinese top legislator Li Peng said Wednesday.

Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remarks when meeting with visiting Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

China and Bangladesh have respected, trusted and supported each other on an equal basis since they forged diplomatic ties 27 years ago, Li said, adding that China is ready to join with Bangladesh to promote peace and development in the region and the world.

Zia said Bangladesh attaches great importance to China's role in international affairs and expects bilateral cooperation in all fields to further advance smoothly.
