Beijing Mayor Liu Qi met in Beijing Wednesday with Jung Choong Bae, chairman and chief executive of Samsung Life Insurance Co. Ltd., of the Republic of Korea (ROK).
Liu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, said that during the modernization drive, Beijing would focus on the development of the manufacturing and service industries, and strive to create a favorable environment for the development of the finance sector. Liu invited Samsung Life Insurance to do business in the city.
Bae said Beijing boasted a good investment environment and enormous development potential, and the city's successful bid for the 2008 Olympic Games had made its prospects even brighter.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues including preparations for the Olympic Games and promoting the use of credit cards.
