China Congratulates DPRK, ROK on Railway, Road Links
China was pleased at the simultaneous launch of a project Wednesday by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) to connect their railways and highways.

China also congratulated the two countries on the launch of the project, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan.

It marked a substantive step towards the reconciliation between the DPRK and ROK, Kong said here Wednesday when commenting on the project's opening ceremony held on both sides of the Korean Peninsula.

Following the recent summit meeting between the DPRK and ROK, the relations between the two sides had greatly improved thanks to their joint efforts, Kong said. That benefited not only the people of the Korean Peninsula, but also peace and stability on the peninsula.

Kong said China hoped the DPRK and the ROK would continue to show a spirit of reconciliation and cooperation, build trust and boost exchanges and cooperation with the ultimate aim of self-determined peaceful reunification.
