The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and South Korea agreed Sunday to provide military guarantee for reconnecting railways and roads between the two countries.

The agreement was reached at the end of two days' military talks at the truce village of Panmunjom, which was participated by Senior Colonel Yu Yong Chol from the DPRK and Brigadier General Kim Kyong Dok from South Korea, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

The two sides agreed to meet on Monday and Tuesday to exchang ecopies of the agreement with signature, the KCNA report said.

The idea of relinking railways and roads was initiated at the landmark DPRK-South Korean summit in June 2000. The 7th Pyongyang-Seoul ministerial talks that took place in mid-August this year agreed to hold bilateral talks between military authorities to discuss providing military guarantee for relinking the projects that have been cut off since the end of the 1950-1953 Korean War.
