A German woman kidnapped two days ago in Kabul was rescued in a police operation early Monday, Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Zamarai Bashari said.
A picture taken in Berlin shows German aid worker Christina Barbara Meier, abducted in Kabul two days ago in Kabul, was rescued by police early Monday, an officer involved in the operation and an official said.
The German aid worker was taken hostage Saturday afternoon in the western part of the Afghan capital.
A number of kidnappers were arrested in Monday's rescue operation, Bashari said.
In Berlin, a German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman confirmed that the woman was "in safety at the German Embassy" in Kabul, according to reports from the German capital.
