China is ready to work with Indonesia to keep enriching the content of the bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries, Vice President Zeng Qinghong said in Beijing Wednesday.
The strategic partnership, forged after the visits of the two heads of state to the other country, has lifted China-Indonesia relations to a new level, Zeng said during a meeting with Speaker Agung Laksono of the House of Representatives of Indonesia.
President Hu Jintao visited Indonesia last April and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono visited China in July.
According to Zeng, China and Indonesia have witnessed growing political trust between them and cooperate well in economic, scientific and technological, cultural, educational and military fields.
China and Indonesia, both developing countries, are highly complementary in the economic area and have a broad prospect for closer cooperation, he said.
He also spoke highly of the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China's National People's Congress and the Indonesian parliament.
He hoped the two sides would keep enhancing exchanges at various levels, especially in the fields of legislation and supervision.
Agung said the Indonesian parliament will join hands with China's National People's Congress to implement the consensus reached between Susilo and Hu and continue to promote the bilateral strategic partnership.
He said the Indonesian government, parliament and people will firmly abide by the one-China policy.
He also expressed appreciation, on behalf of the Indonesian parliament and people, to China for its timely assistance to his country after last year's tsunami disaster.
