A member of Al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, was killed Wednesday in a premature bomb explosion in the central Gaza Strip, Palestinian medics said. Hassan al-Allami, 31, was killed as he was preparing a roadside bomb near an Israeli army checkpoint, witnesses said. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon declared a mutual ceasefire at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit on Tuesday.
But Hamas and Islamic Jihad (Holy War) said they were not part of it.
Abbas is scheduled to convene again soon in Gaza with representatives of these factions to discuss the outcome of the summit. (Xinhua News Agency February 10, 2005)
