Seychelles' President James Michel thanked China for contributing aid to his country following the devastation caused by the Indian Ocean tsunami when he met Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing in the Seychelles capital Victoria on Monday.
Michel said Seychelles is grateful to the Chinese people who have for years provided great assistance to the Indian Ocean island country.
Michel reiterated his government's adherence to the one-China policy and support to China's reunification cause.
Seychelles will continue to cooperate with China in regional and international affairs, he added.
The Chinese foreign minister sent his condolences to the tsunami-hit people of Seychelles while voicing his confidence in their ability to rebuild their homeland.
Li spoke highly of Sino-Seychelles relations, saying China appreciates Seychelles' support for China on issues of Taiwan, human rights, Beijing's Olympic games bid and Shanghai's Expo bid.
