China's Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei has met a Chinese rescue team in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, passing on a message of support from President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.
"We hope that you can cooperate with the Indonesians and local governments to better carry out the relief work. I hope that you can help them overcome all the difficulties, rebuild homes and accomplish your mission successfully."
The Chinese delegation is in Aceh, the worst-hit area in Indonesia, investigating the best ways of effectively carrying out assistance.
The rescue team was one of the first international teams to arrive after tsunamis hit the region. Wu Dawei said the people and the government of Indonesia appreciate China's efforts, which are a reflection of the deep friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Wu, heading a Chinese official delegation, said at the rescue team's camp that the Chinese staff are working under difficult conditions. Doctors have treated about 6,000 patients in the past nine days.
The Chinese delegation has also met with Indonesian Vice President Yusuf Kalla and Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda.
