A Chinese border defense delegation, led by Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) General Ge Zhenfeng, began a five-day visit to Yangon Wednesday at an invitation of Myanmar Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air Force) General Thura Shwe Mann.
Shortly after the delegation's arrival, the two generals had discussions on strengthening the two countries' traditional friendship and ties between the two countries and the two armed forces as well as enhancing exchange and cooperation between the two armed forces in the sector of border defense.
During the visit, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the establishment of border defense talks mechanism and management of border affairs between the two defense ministries will be signed.
Previously, China has set up such mechanisms with neighboring Russia, Mongolia, India and so on.
