China Calls on Israel, Palestine to Resume Talks

China has called on the Israelis and Palestinians to make the most of the current opportunity to resume peace talks. The country's permanent representative to the UN, Wang Guangya, was speaking on Tuesday's at the world body's meeting on the Palestinian issue.

Wang said that Middle East Peace is at a critical stage, noting that both sides have shown a positive attitude towards each other. He voiced China's hopes that all concerned would take the opportunity to make more specific efforts in push forward the "roadmap" peace process. Wang stressed his country's support in settling the issue peacefully under the framework of the UN.
