Yunnan Province in southwest China and US, British and Australian experts, in cooperation with the UN Aids Agency, are launching a major AIDS prevention and control program.
It includes publicity campaigns on prevention, especially for those in high risk groups, as well as treatment and community care.
The Red Cross of Yunnan Province and the Australian Red Cross will jointly run 1,500 training classes over the next ten years, teaching more than 400,000 teenagers about AIDS and its prevention.
This collaborative project was recommended at the 13th UN AIDS Conference held recently in South Africa.
There are now more than 16,000 HIV infected people in Yunnan.
