A senior Chinese official Friday called on China's law enforcement departments to redouble their efforts to safeguard the stability of the country so as to provide a sound environment conducive to the building of a relatively affluent society in the coming years.
Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, made the comments as part of his closing remarks at a national working conference on law enforcement.
In his speech, Luo praised the achievements made over the past five years and said law enforcement departments across the country have carried out their roles in cracking down on crime and in safeguarding national and social security.
Luo, also secretary of the Political and Legislative Affairs Committee of the CPC Central Committee, urged law enforcement departments nationwide to intensify reforms and to build a politically-qualified and professional force in order to create a sound legal environment for China's reform and opening up drive.
