The Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) must continue to keep to the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) these days, top legislator Li Peng said in Beijing on Wednesday.
Li, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, made this remark at a meeting of CPC delegates from Party organizations in the NPC Standing Committee.
The historical experience over the 50 years since the founding of New China in 1949, he noted, had shown that progress in various socialist causes must be directed by a strong CPC leadership.
Past achievements of the Standing Committee of the Ninth NPC had been closely linked with the work of CPC members in the NPC Standing Committee, he said.
