Xuanwu Hospital Sees off Last Group of SARS Patients
Xuanwu Hospital, one of the designated hospitals for treating patients of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Beijing, saw off the last batch of three SARS patients Friday.

The three SARS patients were seen off by more than 100 medical workers. Han Demin, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, said the hospital has finished its 50-day task for treatment of SARS patients.

Since the Xuanwu Hospital began to accept the first batch of SARS patients on May 6, it has received 220 SARS patients, of whom, 131 were in serious condition or suffered from heart disease, diabetes and mental disease simultaneously.

More than 1,200 doctors and nurses worked in wards for SARS patients and no one has been infected. Han congratulated the hospital on its success in the fight against SARS.

Zhang Jian, president of the Xuanwu Hospital, said the hospital will soon start a 10-day disinfection and go through a month-long rebuilding before accepting ordinary patients again.
