Indonesian Hindus, particularly in West Nusa Tenggara province, will continue to pray during the Day of Silence (known locally as Nyepi) for Iraqis caught up in the US-led war against Iraq, head of a local Hindu organization I.Gde Mandya said on Monday.
"During the Day of Silence on Wednesday, all Indonesian Hindus will pray for the people of Iraq," Mandya was quoted by official news agency Antara as saying.
The Hindus will pray so that the war in Iraq will end as soon as possible, as war is really against human values, he said.
"God willing, the war will end immediately because the negative impacts- of the war will also affect life in West Nusa Tenggara," he said.
Hundreds of thousands of people from various religious and ethnic groups took to the streets of Jakarta Sunday to protest the US-led military assault against Iraq.
The demonstration, the country's largest-ever rally to protest the US invasion of Iraq, caused massive traffic congestion that lasted hours.
