Former Spanish Labor Minister Manuel Pimentel said on Wednesday the war against Iraq would stop "thousands of millions of people" from believing that the West represents humane values and freedom.
Pimentel said at a lecture the war against Iraq was unjustifiable and might lead people around the world to distrust the west.
After this war, it will be "very difficult" for "thousands of millions of people" around the world to "believe in us when we say the Westerners represent human rights, democracy and freedom," he said.
Last Sunday, Pimentel announced his resignation from the ruling Popular Party due to his disagreement with the government policy on the war, which he considers as "illicit" and a "historical mistake."
