Jiang's Letter Published to Promote Moral Education for Adolescents

China Thursday published a letter written by Chinese leader Jiang Zemin to a pupil of his childhood primary school, aiming to promote moral education for adolescents.

In October of 2000, the girl named Wu Shuang wrote a letter to Jiang, inviting him to visit Dongguan Primary School in Yangzhou City of Jiangsu Province.

Although Jiang did not go back to the school due to his busy schedule, he returned her letter thanking her for the invitation month later.

In his letter, Jiang said that he missed the school and was very pleased to know the progress the school had achieved.

He also reviewed his school life in Dongguan when China was suffering civil wars and foreign aggression. He hoped that Wu and her schoolmates would treasure the current great time when China is rejuvenating itself and took the good opportunity to study hard and improve themselves in an all-round way.

The letter was published to show that Chinese leaders have paid great attention to the moral education for the youth, officials said.

Aware of modern society's increasing impact on teenagers, the Chinese government has strengthened moral education for youth and enacted a law to protect children and adolescents.
