Twenty Hong Kong exhibitors have participated in a garment and fashion accessories trade fair in Paris, France, a spokesman for the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau said Thursday.
The FATEX 2003 -- The Sourcing Trade Fair, is a specialized exhibition for garment related products. Ninety-five exhibitors from six countries and regions have participated in the three-day event which was concluded Thursday.
"We are glad to note that the organizer of the fair has not imposed any special health requirement on Hong Kong exhibitors. They were only advised to have a daily body temperature check during the exhibition period," the spokesman said.
He added that "we hope that through active participation in the fair, Hong Kong traders would be able to tap business opportunities and find new business partners."
To help promote the competitiveness of Hong Kong companies in garment production and to provide a platform for Hong Kong exhibitors to have direct contact with garment traders in the European Union, particularly in France, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council has set up a Hong Kong Pavilion in the venue.
Hong Kong has been recording its 12th single-digit SARS cases Thursday when additional 5 people have been confirmed to have SARS. A total of 1,160 SARS patients in Hong Kong were recovered and discharged from public hospitals.
