Transparent TV Studio on Busy Shanghai Commercial Street
Shoppers on Nanjing Street, the busiest business street of Shanghai, were surprised to discover a transparent TV studio on the ground floor of the New World shopping center.

Gao Hua, a senior staff member of Shanghai TV Station, told Xinhua that it is the first time in China that a TV studio has been built on a commercial street. It is also a very rare occurrence worldwide. Gao said the motivation for building the transparent studio is to help people learn more about the TV production process so as to bring people closer to TV.

Occupying a floor space of 64 square meters and equipped with advanced video, audio and lighting facilities, the transparent TV studio was launched jointly by Shanghai TV Station and Shanghai Oriental TV Station.

Huang Yuzhen, 53, an elderly Shanghai woman resident, confirmed that the new studio is fulfilling its stated goal, and said that the studio has "brought TV closer" to him.
