Chinese graduates of overseas universities have come to Shanghai to set up special funds aiming to help poor students in the motherland.
China Blue Charity Fund, a non-profit organization initiated and managed by the students and alumni from the University of Michigan Business School, says it has raised more than 10,000 US dollars in Shanghai since it was established in 2002.
Most of the funds were raised through charity auctions among overseas Chinese Michigan students, donations for the university's Chinese alumni, and contributions from the graduates' own earnings.
The money will be donated to children in the country's underdeveloped regions, such as the provinces of Jiangxi and Yunnan to sponsor their elementary education for one year.
