Plans to delay the closing of the World Carnival in Beijing for a week might be shelved because of opposition from nearby residents.
Some 30 locals participated in a hearing on Thursday. They said the noise and flashing lights from the world carnival makes it hard to sleep at night.
But many young people, especially those coming from rural areas to attend universities in Beijing this semester, want the chance to feel the excitement of the World Carnival and hope it can be extended for a week.
The problem is still under discussion.
The World Carnival kicked off in early July and is scheduled to close August 22nd.
