Chinese Share Prices Continue to Rise

China's share prices continue to rise on Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange up 1.95 percent, or 100.96 points to end at 5,273.59.

The Shenzhen Component Index on the smaller Shenzhen Stock Exchange rose 3.23 percent, or 561.10 points to close at 17,959.51.

Combined turnover of the two bourses stood at 216.8 billion yuan (US$28.5 billion), lower than that on Wednesday, which was 229.25 billion yuan.
