With a view to build a "romantic city", Zhuhai will inject 10 billion-yuan within three years to put itself up a coastal landscape, making it a Riviera in China.
Riviera, derived from an Italian word and referring to a juncture of land and sea, is now a coastal city between France and Italy.
Zhuhai, backed up by mountains and facing the sea, lies in the Pearl River Delta, and has favorable natural resources. As early as the 1990s, Zhuhai had been named as a tourism city for its beautiful natural environment and garden-like construction. Now it has become a famous tourism attraction for sight-seers and leisure-seekers.
The city plans to map out 7 regions. They include hotels, recreational spots, wharf, handicraft, beacon statue, fish market, seafood restaurant, open-air theater, scenery view platform, holidaymaking island and helidrome and other facilities.
Zhuhai hopes the planned "Chinese Riviera" could lead the whole city to a new prosperity.
