Twins Stages First Beijing Concert

Hong Kong's most celebrated female duo, Twins conquered the Hong Kong music scene shortly after their debut four years ago. And early this year, they entered the Mandarin music scene with their first mandarin album Practice Eros. Now, the pop duo finally fulfilled their long-term dream to stage a solo concert in Beijing.

Twins staged their first performance titled Starlight Playground at Worker's Gymnasium last Friday night.

The concert opened with the famous musical Chicago-style of liveliness and Hong Kong male duo Boy'z were guest performers. Veteran star Andy Lau also delivered his wishes through video and requested that Twins perform the theme song from his latest same name film Say Again I Love You, costarring member of Twins, Charlene Choi as the wife of Lau.

Simple stage design, brief costume changes, and not so complicated choreography made a not so luxurious concert and the passion of Beijing fans was all the way average, more or less reflecting the reasons behind the low turnout.

The two girls held a Shanghai concert in August with much success. Although they put much effort in their mandarin Chinese just to satisfy Beijing fans, the interaction between the singers and fans was nonetheless still blocked by the girls' poor mandarin.

One fan from a university in Beijing commented:

"They mostly sung in Cantonese with not such great singing talents. Twins even wanted to tighten the distance between fans and them, but ended up embarrassed with awkward silences because they were their inarticulate."

Another hardcore fan from Twins' Fans Club in Beijing showed great supports to her idols by saying:

"Although suddenness and mistakes occurred and they even forgot the lyrics on stage, but their amiable looks and genuine performance style impressed me so much!"
