Jackie Chan to Hold Charity Concert in Shanghai

Hollywood actor Jackie Chan is holding a "Jackie Chan and Friends" charity concert on September 2 in Shanghai. All proceeds will go to mainland charities.

It will feature guest appearances by his son Jaycee Chan, along with Emil Chou, Jonathan Lee, Huang Pinyuan, Zhang Huimei, Kim Hee Sun, Tarcy Su, Cecilia Cheung and Ruby Lin.

This concert is part of a Charity Week which will include the Jackie Chan Charity Cup Race, and a "Guitar Night," when three guitars with Chan's signature on it will be given to lucky spectators.

The renowned Hong Kong-born actor has held Jackie Chan and Friends concerts in various cities around the world to benefit local charities.

Chan has made great contributions to the music scene for years with songs like A Hero Never Dies and Don't Go Home. Most recently he sang the theme song to the film Fairy Tale with Kim Hee Sun.

Between shooting films and participating in public activities all over the world, it takes Chan over a year to finish an album. The star has always acted as an upright and positive character in his films, and also in real life. He founded the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation in Hong Kong in 1998, providing scholarships to needy students and assisting injured performers and their families.

The star has been involved in over 100 public welfare projects in 52 cities in over 30 countries. In 2003, he was selected as one of the Top 10 News Figures in China with the doctor Zhong Nanshan and the astronaut Yang Liwei.
