Chinese President Sends Congratulatory Message to Nepal's New King

Chinese President Jiang Zemin Wednesday sent a congratulatory message to King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev of the Kingdom of Nepal on the occasion of his coronation.

Nepal is China's friendly neighbor, said the message, and the two countries have treated each other as equals and co-existed in harmony for decades.

It is the set policy of the Chinese Government to further consolidate and strengthen the good-neighborly partnership of generation-to-generation friendship between China and Nepal, said Jiang in his message.

The Chinese president expressed confidence that with the concerted efforts of the two sides, China-Nepal friendship will develop further.

He also wished the Kingdom of Nepal prosperity and its people peace and well being.
