Jiang Zemin, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, extended congratulations Monday to Joaquim Chissano on his election victory as president of Mozambique's ruling Mozambique Liberation Front Party.
In a congratulatory message to Chissano, Jiang said: "On behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and in my own name, I extend to you the most sincere congratulations."
Jiang expressed his wish that Chissano would achieve greater success in his post and that the friendly cooperative relations between China and Mozambique, their peoples and the two parties, would continue to develop.
