Beida Butcher to Teach at University

A Peking University graduate has been offered a teaching position at a university after he had been forced to earn a living by selling pork in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province.

The Xi'an University of Engineer Science and Technology had offered a teaching position to Lu Buxuan, a Chinese language major from Peking University, Chinese language media reported.

Huang Xiang, deputy head of the university, visited Lu's shop for the second time Tuesday, expressing the university's wish to hire him.

Lu said he was looking forward to work at university and would decide soon.

Asked why the university wanted to hire Lu, Huang said the Chinese language department of the university was in urgent need of teachers and Lu was qualified for the position.

The twists and turns in Lu's life would prove to be his wealth and help encourage the students, said Huang.

To make the career change easier for Lu, the university would assign him administrative tasks before letting him teach if he accepted the offer, Huang said.
