East China's Shandong Province has earned more than 17.6 billion yuan (US$2.12 billion) through overseas labor cooperation projects, sending more than 20,000 workers abroad each year.
Shandong has so far signed labor cooperation contracts valued at 6.78 billion US dollars, achieving 4.33 billion US dollars in business volume.
The province has sent a total of 196,000 workers to 104 countries and regions.
The cooperation has involved the sectors of machinery, electronics, fisheries, road and bridge construction, aquatic products development, textiles and garments, construction engineering, mining, agriculture, and computer software production.
Most of the projects are in Asian countries and regions, particularly in Japan, the Republic of Korea and Singapore, a source with the provincial government said.
