An official in east China's Shandong Province was put on trial at the Ji'nan Intermediate People's Court on Tuesday for taking bribes.
Pan Guangtian, 58, former vice-chairman of the Shandong committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was accused of accepting bribes worth 1.57 million yuan (US$189,000).
Pan had worked for branches of the Agricultural Bank of China for many years before he was promoted to the post on the CPPCC Shandong committee.
Pan pled guilty to the court and apologized for his crimes.
