China's National Bureau of Statistics has announced that the prelude of the first national economic survey will be conducted in April.
Four counties or districts of Beijing and three provinces will be selected to do the pilot survey simultaneously.
The survey will target managers in industry and service, including the managers of individually-owned businesses.
The pilot survey is to test if the working program of the First National Economic Survey is practical and to ensure that it can be carried out smoothly.
The survey should be finished by early June. (CRI March 23, 2004)
