Government to Launch National Economic Survey

The State Council decided to launch the first national economic survey next year in an executive meeting held in Beijing Wednesday.

The meeting, chaired by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, heard the report on the national economic survey and how to improve the mechanism of gross domestic product (GDP) accounting and statistics release system.

The decision asked local governments to ensure the accuracy of the survey.

It said that China should gradually adopt the internationally accepted standard to improve the transparency and credibility of GDP accounting and other economic statistics.

In order to achieve the sustainable development of the marine industry, it decided to strengthen the management on marine resources development, marine environmental protection, and law enforcement of related departments.

It also decided to publicize the regulation on construction security management after the draft was further revised.
