China's foreign trade ministry said Tuesday it has taken antidumping measures on coated art paper imported from the U.S., Japan and South Korea, after an investigation found imports harmed its local industry, according to a report of Dow Jones Newswires.
The preliminary decision, announced in a notice on the ministry's Web site, calls for importers of coated art paper from those three countries to pay cash deposits to Customs to ensure they don't undercut domestic prices.
The deposits will be based on the "dumping margin," or the amount by which imports beat domestic market prices. The margin, as calculated by the government survey, ranges from 6% to 71% and varies by producing country and company.
The dumping investigation also covered imports from Finland, the notice said, but found that those imports didn't cause any harm to China's domestic industry.
The Chinese firms affected by the imports have 20 days to respond to the preliminary decision by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the notice said.
