Shanghai Volkswagen Corporation sold a record 26,521 cars in China in June, 25 percent up on the same month last year, according to latest statistics from the Sino-German joint venture.
An official from the company said Volkswagen's outstanding sales contributed to the overall upsurge of the country's auto market.
He noted China's auto market suffered a short downturn following its entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) late last year, as consumers took a wait-and-see attitude.
Boasting brandnames like Polo, Passat and Santana 2000 series, Shanghai Volkswagen have won the confidence of Chinese consumers with its high quality and good after-sale service, said the official, stating that apart from weighing up between price and high qualitity, Chinese consumers are now paying more attention tobrand and service.
The Polo series have sold nearly one hundred a day since it rolled off the line three months ago. In June, 2,909 cars were sold.
Sales of the Passat series took first place in the car market of the same rank, with a sales volume of 6,541 cars.
The sales of the Santana series reached 8,374 last month, taking 53 percent of the middle-rank car market.
As one of the most popular auto providers in China, Shanghai Volkswagen is now listed at the top of the "most popular foreign investment companies in China" by "Fortune".
