China is to accelerate the expansion of the nutrition industry and the development of nutritional products, according to an international seminar which opened in Beijing Wednesday.
The China Public Nutrition and Social, Economic Development Seminar attracted over 160 participants from the United Nations, various departments of the Chinese government, research institutes,universities and international companies.
The meeting focused on discussions on the formulation of a follow-up program for the improvement of public nutrition in China.
China achieved the goal of eliminating starvation and mal-nutrition in 2000. The meeting called for all sectors of the Chinese society to join in the efforts to improve the nutritional level of the public to enhance social and economic development.
