China Tuesday issued a ranking of the top 30 vehicle companies based on their gross sales income in 2004.
The top three are First Automotive works (FAW), Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
These 30 companies account for 0.46 percent of the total vehicle companies in China, but their sales income accounted for 59.18 percent of the total gross income. Their profits accounted for 61.04 percent of that of the total industry.
Among these 30 companies, 20 manufacture complete automobiles. Theirs gross sales income is 580.1 billion yuan, accounting for 90.89 percent of that of the 30 companies. Their profits are 41.1 billion yuan, 94.7 percent of the total.
Motorcycle companies accounted for nine of the total, with profits of one billion yuan, or 2.3 percent of the total. The gross income from sales that they made was 37.3 billion yuan, 5.84percent of that of the 30 companies.
The list was compiled by the National Bureau of Statistics, China Machinery Industry Federation and China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
