The list of top 10 automakers in China was reshuffled in 2004. But Volkswagen and General Motors have maintained their leading position in the world's most potent market.
Volkswagen's Shanghai branch tops the list, with an annual output of 347,000 units, and 355,000 units sold.
It boasts of the second-largest market share, in a joint venture with First Automotive Works. GM's Shanghai branch follows VW's two branches.
