Further VW Price Cuts

The Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Corp. will cut its car prices by an average of 5,000 to 7,000 yuan, or 600 to 840 US dollars, the largest price cut since June.

The price reductions will cover three models, Santana 3000 Santana and Passat (2.0T and 1.8T), with about 10,000 yuan off some particular models.

The company says there are no plans to cut the prices of Polo and Gol models, as their prices have already hit the bottom.

However, VW Shanghai clarified that the price cuts are to be initiated by the dealers themselves, and have nothing to do with the manufacturer.
