Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said in Shanghai Thursday afternoon the just-ended 13th Ministerial Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was "very successful."
Tang made the comment at a press conference, attended by ministers or representatives of APEC members.
He highlighted the accomplishment at the 13th APEC Ministerial Meeting which concluded after two days' discussions.
The achievements are summarized as mainly in three aspects:
-- the meeting has further promoted the trade liberalization and facilitation process in the Asia-Pacific region;
-- it has strengthened economic and technological cooperation and cooperation in capacity building so as to ensure people in the region sharing the benefits from globalization and the New Economy; and
-- efforts have been made to create conditions for sustainable economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region through macro-economic policy dialogue and cooperation.
Tang said, the ministers present at the meeting have studied the subject of how to forge closer ties with a wider range of groups in society and boost exchanges and cooperation with people from all walks of life so as to get the business community, youth, women and other stakeholders of APEC involved in its cooperation process.
