ICBC Cooperates with Microsoft
The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) yesterday signed a cooperative agreement with Microsoft (China) to further the development of the bank's personal Internet banking services.

Under the agreement, Microsoft will help the bank optimize the security of its personal Internet banking system.

The bank will employ Microsoft enterprise-class products to provide customers with more individualized value-added services.

Bank President Jiang Jianqing said: "The cooperation with Microsoft will help promote the ICBC's information construction, develop its e-banking system and boost its comprehensive competitiveness."

As China's largest commercial bank, the ICBC began to provide an individual Internet banking service in 2000. It plans to launch a new-generation personal Internet banking system in July this year.

Bill Gates, Microsoft chairman and chief architect, said at yesterday's signing ceremony in Beijing that the project will be an example not only for banking in China, but in the world.

Microsoft (China) also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Beijing municipal government yesterday to improve the development of the city's software industry.
