China Software Industry Association (CSIA) recently accepted Microsoft (China) Corporation as its formal member, the first foreign-funded corporation into the Association after China's WTO entry.
To become a formal member of the Association is a milestone of Microsoft's development in China, says Tang Jun, president of Microsoft (China).
Microsoft will make full use of its advantages in software and rich resources to push forward China's software industry together with the Association, he said.
With the membership, Microsoft will be expected to participate in a series of activities to be held by the Association on protection of intellectual property rights and software technology developing.
As the most influential software company in the world, Microsoft's participation would play a positive role in the development of the Association, said Chen Chong, the CSIA board chairman.
With China's WTO accession, China's software industry has to steer onto the same track as internationally accepted practices and operate in a global market.
Therefore, it's vital for China to strengthen international cooperation and exchanges, Chen said, adding that he believed Microsoft's success in business development and technical innovation would set a good example to its Chinese counterparts.
