The 2000 Lushan International Cultural and Tourism Festival opened in Nanchang on Sep 1 at Mount Lushan, a world culture heritage site, attracting 1,000 visitors from both China and overseas.
The organizers have planned colorful activities for festival participants including evening concerts, a world table tennis champions competition, sightseeing and a seminar on the research of Taoism.
Mount Lushan, located on the bank of the Yangtze River in east China's Jiangxi Province section, was listed as a world cultural heritage in December 1996 for its beautiful scenery. It played host to 444,000 visitors in the first half of this year.
The festival will help add to the popularity of Mount Lushan and promote the development of tourism in Jiangxi Province, said one of the organizers.
