Wong Kar Wai

CAA has signed Wong Kar Wai, marking the first time the Hong Kong-based director has had a Hollywood agent.

The director said he will work with CAA to develop and direct English-language projects.

Wong's "In the Mood for Love" was named best foreign-language film by the New York Film Critics Circle and National Society of Film Critics, and he received the director prize at Cannes for "Happy Together." Other films include "Chungking Express," "Days of Being Wild" and "Fallen Angels." He most recently directed "My Blueberry Nights," which opened the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, and his 1994 film "Ashes of Time" was re-released by Sony Pictures Classics last year and played at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival.

Wong served as president of the jury at Cannes in 2006, becoming the first Chinese prexy in that festival history.

He continues to be managed by Paul Schwartzman.
