The first promotional poster for director Wong Kar-Wai's "Ashes of Time: Redux," a rework of his 1994 martial arts film, has recently been released.
It has been confirmed that the director as well as the cast members Tony Leung, Carina Lau and Charlie Yeung will attend the world premiere of the film on May 18th at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Wong's studio, Jet Tone Film Production, spent nearly three years and more than ten million Hong Kong dollars (about 1.5 million US dollars) re-editing and adding special effects to the all-star-cast classic film, according to media reports.
Chinese-American musician Yoyo Ma composed seven musical pieces for the film.
The film, based on a classic piece of heroic literature written by the prolific Chinese author Louis Cha, is set in a desert tavern in ancient China, and tells the unrequited love stories of a group of swordsmen.
