4. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

What a stupid idea to set some film titled Mummy in China! We don't actually have mummies in China, by the way. What did the scriptwriters have in mind? It is no more than a film trying to cash in on Beijing Olympic hype, as one of its trailers suggests. Still worse, the storyline is incredibly disjointed and problematic. Even the presence of Jet Li fails to generate any real excitement in the action sequences, partly because of mediocre CGI. The movie is dull from the very beginning to the end. It is clear that the Mummy franchise has passed its prime, and Universal Studio should lay it quietly to rest in its tomb.
