Industries recovering in Dujiangyan
Adjust font size:

"This machines is 25 meters long. That one is 18 meters. The two are worth more than 6 million yuan. Our core products are mainly made here, so we recover them first. If all goes well, they can be back to work in 15 days. Now we need to fix the underground grids and sterilization system. The two machines were on their side after the quake and their motors were burnt."

Rebuilding the canteen is another priority. The management says feeding the workers is more important than fixing machines.

The massive quake hit every company in this industrial zone. We've been told that some small businesses here have to give up because they can't afford to rebuild, as their capital was knocked down to zero. But those which are still standing have decided to recover as soon as possible, with preferential policies already in place.

"The earthquake has caused losses of 2.1 billion yuan in this tech and industrial park. Businesses here lost 1.5 billion yuan and the rest is in infrastructure. So far, 16 enterprises have fully or partially recovered production. Now, we are in talks with the Shanghai Municipal Gov't to help us build a platform, which can turn their help from 'blood-transfusion' style into a 'blood-making' ability of our own."

On these rough lands, the road towards full recovery remains tough, but we've witnessed people's determination to prosper again.
