Industries in Dujiangyan city were booming before the massive earthquake hit. Now, many enterprises there have cleared away the rubble and getting back into business.

This was the office building of a food company in the Dujiangyan Tech and Industrial Park. It looks fine from the front, but now it's just a shell. Fortunately, no one was hurt in here when the quake struck.

"Only the structure of this building remains fine. All the walls must be pulled down and rebuilt. This building cost us 4 million yuan. The direct loss this time is at least 3 million."

But rebuilding the offices is at the bottom of Liuyanggou's recovery plan. Restarting production is management's top priority, and it's tough. For one of China's biggest jerky markets, only the smell of dried beef is left in the plant now. Workshop by workshop, the director tells us about their losses.

"This is our vacuum packaging workshop. People were working on the left side when the quake hit and the machines were on the right. The whole roof above the machines collapsed. The whole pipeline system in this workshop was destroyed. Products worth over 2 million yuan had to be thrown out. We transported the machines back to Chengdu on May 14th."

Recovery is underway. This workshop has been cleaned up and technicians are testing the electrical connection.

Interior decoration is now the least concern for this company, whose plant has been designed to pass the world's strictest quality tests.

In about two weeks' time Liuyanggou has restored key machines and workshops on its main production line, including the small tools of their own design, and expensive, precious ones.
