Donations and disaster relief materials from all across China and the world are helping earthquake victims survive these difficult times.
All relief materials must be registered and checked at the city's disaster relief command.
This truckload of goods is donated by civil servants in Nanchong to Dujiangyan City, not far from Chengdu.
A Civil Affairs offical from Chengdu receives them.
Xiong Jianhua from Chengdu Civil Affairs Bureau, said, "This truck contains 50 tents, 100 boxes of food, 52 quilts, 40 bags of rice, 40 boxes of instant noodles, 10 boxes of clothing, 50 boxes of bottled water, and 3 boxes of mosquito-repellent incense." After everything's checked, we head to the Dujiangyan Disaster Relief Command.
Xiong Jianhua tells us about his first trip to the epicenter.
Xiong Jianhua said, "We left on the night of May 12 for Wenchuan. We encountered a major mountain slide in Zipingpu Township. We couldn’t move at all. We were trapped there for a week. But we finally got the materials to the epicenter."
The expressway to Dujiangyan is now the life-line of the quake-hit city.
All relief materials must be registered and checked at the city's disaster relief command.
A staff member takes Xiong to Reception.
Officials here recheck the list and issue a receipt for the trucker.
Relief Command sends the materials where they're needed most.
Zhou Guang from Dujiangyan Gov't said, "10 minutes have passed since the truck entered here. We have decided to dispatch materials to Zipingpu Township immediately."
